I was born and brought up in Dover. Though I haven't lived there for many years, it's still dear to my heart and I've enjoyed revisiting the town and finding out more about it while researching and writing my novels, A Sense of Belonging and Shakespeare Cliff.
My enthusiasm for literature and history led me to study Classics at Cambridge and to teach Latin, Ancient Greek, and Classical Civilisation at secondary schools. I'm a huge fan of historical fiction and it was the obvious genre for me to choose when I decided to embark on writing a novel.
I quickly realised the story I wanted to tell spanned several generations of a Dover family and there was too much material for a single novel. I anticipate the family saga eventually expanding to three or more books.
I currently live in SW France where my husband and I run a gîte and are restoring our old stone farmhouse overlooking the beautiful Dropt valley.
