About adrienne terblanche

Adrienne wearing sunglasses and a blue sweater stands with arms crossed near rocky shoreline with water and a single tree in the background.

I was born and brought up in Dover. Though I haven't lived there for many years, it's still dear to my heart and I've enjoyed revisiting the town and finding out more about it while researching and writing my novels, The Papermaker's Daughter and The Shakespeare Paper. I share some of that research, the real history behind the story, on my blog.

My enthusiasm for literature and history led me to study Classics at Cambridge and to teach Latin, Ancient Greek, and Classical Civilisation at secondary schools. I'm a huge fan of historical fiction and it was the obvious genre for me to choose when I decided to embark on writing a novel.

I quickly realised the story I wanted to tell spanned several generations of a Dover family and there was too much material for a single novel. I anticipate the story eventually expanding to three or more books.

I currently live in Suffolk where my husband and I are renovating an old bungalow overlooking the beautiful Suffolk countryside.
